"The narrow, rolling fairways and small greens are surrounded by hardwood forests that make this 6,600-yard trek a Canadian classic."
- GlobeGolf 2005
Historically, a links course consists of a traditional circular layout, with a loop “out” and nine holes “in”. This routing plan was adopted at all the historic Scottish courses and duplicated at the Highlands Links. One of the few true links designs in North America, Highlands Links celebrates the Celtic heritage of Cape Breton and Thompson himself christened each hole with a Scottish name.
